It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear friend, Marie Sonnenfeld. She dedicated many years to Rising Stars and for that we are incredibly grateful. We ask that you keep her and her loved ones in your prayers. We are praying for her safe passage into heaven as well as strength for her family coping with this sad news. She leaves behind her husband Cleo, her daughter Kelly, and her son Chris. She will truly be missed.

Marie, please give Pat Morris a big hug from all of us.

We want to thank all of the participants who came out to Red Hill Country Club to play in the Rising Stars Golf Tournament! The weather was perfect. The Raffle prizes were fun. The food was delicious. Thanks to the volunteers who helped make this event operate smoothly. We will host the tournament next year on April 1 at the same beautiful location. Make plans to ask your golf friends to join us next year.

We would like to introduce our newest riding instuctor, Dianna Voss! She began riding with Pat Morris' grandson at our Alta Loma facility over 30 years ago when the Voss children were in Elementary school. The Voss family have always been big supporters of the program. Dianna has many years of upper level training and also has many Dressage Championships. She has been one of our many show judges over the years. Dianna spent years working in the medical field as an EMT at a local hospital. You can read all about her vast background in our website. She will available for individual riding lessons. Dianna is a great addition to our team and is looking forward to helping all of our riders improve their riding skills. Come meet her at our open house on September 10th from 9 to 10:30 am.

Meet our volunteer, Beatrice Huang, who is not only a champion rider- she is also a published author.

Her book, Red The One-Eyed Horse, is based on a true story about her horse, who faces some challenges due to only having one eye - a story about compassion and inclusion.

  • It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that I will be stepping down from directorship of The Rising Stars of Equestrian therapy. My doctors have advised me to slow down my activities to ease the stress currently affecting my heart.

Arrangements are being made to revise the chain of command and the addition of personnel that will be giving our therapy sessions and riding lessons. I will remains as the Chairman of the Board and CEO.

We are currently looking for board facilities for the foundation so that we will be able to continue all of our programs. This may result in a temporary closure until we can complete theme. We will inform you of all actions taken as they are completed.

We are also in a position of being forced to sell the property on Bella Vista. Details are no longer necessary, but I will be willing to discuss the with you.

I’m getting much older, my friends. I have worked hard almost everyday of my life since I was eleven years old. My last vacation was in the summer of 1964. As most most of you know, I married my best friend January 2, 2022. We don’t have much time left to spend with one another, and I want to make our life as easy as possible.

I will be posting events as soon as they occur. Until then it will be business as usual.

    Thank you all for understanding.

    Ric Morris
